Monique Mills, founder and CEO of ThePartyMatch, a real-time booking and reservation tech startup for unique venues, visited the E-House lounge. Monique shared her journey into entrepreneurship; launching a tech startup; and her experience in project management, corporate leadership, consulting and real estate. E-House residents engaged in a Q&A session covering topics including business model design, customer discovery, sourcing capital, developing a minimum viable product, effective team building, designing revenue streams and pricing strategies.

On September 13, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute arranged for E-House to hold “True Life: I’m an Entrepreneur” in the E-House Lounge. The event included a pizza dinner and an open discussion about business with a local entrepreneur. The guest speaker, Monique Mills, was a former engineering project management executive, and she currently has her own startup, ThePartyMatch. Monique is also active in Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center, were she is a coach for young entrepreneurs. I had the opportunity to hear from Monique’s experiences in launching a startup, as well as ask a wide range of questions to learn how to make decisions for my own business venture. I also had the chance to pitch my business to Monique, and get feedback right there in the E-House Lounge! In the end, we exchanged information and I now have her as a contact so if I need business advice or just want to talk to a experienced entrepreneur, we can easily set up a conference.
A couple of days ago, Monique and I had an early morning conference call and we spoke on how to carry out business and use available resources. Overall, my experience in E-House has been pleasant thus far. I feel like the goal is to really reach young innovators and give them the chance to build their platform, and be leaders for Georgia State University. So far I am enjoying the experience and I look forward to more events and competitions.
