Entrepreneur and Alumni Greg Sloan (B.B.A. Finance ’95, MBA Finance ’02) supports the next generation of startups with office space.
Greg Sloan (B.B.A. Finance ’95) is a Georgia State alum and serial entrepreneur that has offered free office space to deserving Georgia State entrepreneurs. Sasha-Gay Trusty (B.A.’19) and Gynella Ngounou (B.I.S.’21) are two not only deserving, but determined, young entrepreneurs—and Main Street Entrepreneurs Seed Fund founders who have secured their spot and have already started utilizing the space to further their entrepreneurial ventures.
Sasha-Gay Trusty is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Quaint Revolt, an online and print magazine that focuses on niche retail coverage and experiences.
Gynella Ngounou is the founder and CEO of Students Expressing Life through Fashion (SELF), a fashion company that offers sewing, design, and other workshops for at-risk designers.
Sasha and Gynella were first introduced to Mr. Sloan who then introduced them to his entrepreneur son, Jonathon. They say that Greg and Jonathan, “have both been super helpful and gracious in allowing us into their entrepreneurial community,” as Mr. Sloan made it clear that he is dedicated to giving back to Georgia State—the institution that shaped him into the successful businessman he is today.
Due to the recent quarantines that have been in place since March, both women were excited to move into this shared office space where they could once again collaborate with others. The office also provides peaceful place to work, without distractions, which can often be hard to find at home. The workspace encourages collaboration, accountability, and keeps them inspired to come up with new, creative ideas. Working from home can also be a hassle, as both Sasha and Gynella have products and equipment that easily clutter workspace. This office space has more than enough room and allows the entrepreneurs to express their creativity without any worry.
By the end of the year, SELF and Quaint Revolt hope to perfect their pitch presentations, have stronger pitch decks, and increase investor funding.
Sasha and Gynella are grateful for the opportunity to work in a space that is full of positivity and supported by kindness. They hope to make the office a part of their creative spirits and “manifest the visions” they have set for themselves, SELF, and Quaint Revolt.
