Expected Graduation Date: 2024
When did you start your business? I officially started Good Vibes Creations, LLC in 2019
GVC Coaster is an innovative coaster that integrates technology and functionality making it ideal for users who partake in smoking and drinking related activities. People will want to use the GVC Coaster because of its unique all in one design and because of its phone charging capabilities. What makes our product different from other cigar and whiskey coasters is our ability to cater to the multiple needs of our customers. Users will not only have the ability to store their cocktails and cigars like most products on the market, but they will also have access to an internal ashtray and an on the go mobile phone charger. These features make everywhere our customers go a pleasant experience.
What inspired your idea?
My father was actually the inspiration for my idea. He taught me about cigars and how to appreciate whiskey. This idea pays homage to my father who passed in 2017 due to kidney cancer.
What stage is your company in currently?
Currently my company is still in the early development stages, but hopefully with funding we can meet our goals and have the GVC Coaster reach market towards the later half of 2021.
Who’s your customer?
The target customer for my GVC Coaster are individuals that indulge in drinking and smoking activities. Our products’ additional features will be very useful to customers with mobile devices.
What problems are you solving?
Our products bridge the gap for individuals involved in smoking and drinking activities. The GVC Coaster will also offer to businesses such as bars, lounges, and clubs the ability to enhance VIP experiences for their customers.
What has been your biggest challenge in launching?
Much like most other business funding has been the main factor that has limited our company’s growth. With funding we will be able to overcome obstacles in production, packaging, and distribution.
Have you always been entrepreneurial?
I have been an entrepreneur since I was 13. I owned a $0.25 M&M machine and my own lawn care company. However even before then I was fortunate enough to work and learn from my father’s graphic design company.
What role has Georgia State played in your entrepreneurial journey?
Georgia State University in the more recent years has greatly impacted my entrepreneurial journey. Through LaunchGSU I have been able to take advantage of attending free seminars covering a wide range of entrepreneurial topics. I have also had the privilege of network with other like-minded entrepreneurs.
What resources have you taken advantage of at Georgia State?
Outside of using the resources offered at LaunchGSU I have also taken advantage of the 3D printing resources through the EX Lab. The ability to checkout photography equipment through CETL has also aided my endeavors as an entrepreneur.
Please share the role that LaunchGSU has played for your business during 2020?
During 2020 I was able to attend the Influencer Marketing event before the pandemic procedures were implemented on campus. However in the previous year I was able to attend a myriad of business related topics covering financing, planning, and legal issues.
Was LaunchGSU helpful to you during quarantine? Please explain –
I would say LaunchGSU has been helpful during quarantine. I have more recently taken advantage of their business consultation services to validate the progress I’ve been making with my company.
What role has Atlanta played in your entrepreneurial journey?
I am an Atlanta native so I always feel like Atlanta as a city has been responsible for my growth. I find resources like Operation Hope and events like Maker Faire Atlanta have greatly increased my business awareness. Also in doing so, my business network has definitely expanded.
What are your company goals for the next 6 months?
-
- To secure funding to begin final design so production can begin
- To create a kickstarter page to build awareness for my company’s product and to expand my customer base.
What continues to inspire you to forge ahead with your company?
I would say everything goes back to the saying “the best ideas can be found can be found in graves.” Years ago I made up in my mind I didn’t want to just be a person with great ideas, but a person who can execute. In pursuing my ideas I hope to provide a better life for myself and the people I care about.
