What role has Atlanta played in your entrepreneurial journey?
Atlanta is a vibrant hub for entrepreneurs, with invigorating energy that permeates the city. This diverse community offers countless opportunities for individuals to realize their creative visions, resulting in remarkable and tangible outcomes. Inspiration is constantly at one’s fingertips in Atlanta ready to inspire new ideas and create transformative ventures.
How has your major at Georgia State prepare you to run a business?
As a Public Policy major, my coursework involves thorough evaluation and root cause analysis to effectively address issues rather than merely treating symptoms. This approach is crucial in the business world where the fundamental basis lies in providing value. By tackling problems that are irrelevant or unimportant, we cannot offer beneficial solutions. For instance, simply providing food to a hungry village may alleviate an immediate symptom but does not address the underlying issue causing the food insecurity. The courses I have taken in my major help me recognize the importance of determining the most valuable solution for every situation and not just provide temporary band-aids.
How has your company pivoted from its initial launch?
The company’s operations originally began in Texas. However, I relocated to Georgia to be closer to my family and enroll at Georgia State University. This change brought the many hardships and inconveniences that accompany moving to an unfamiliar location to my attention. I observed the same struggle with my clients and thus, the company shifted its focus from aiding individuals already present in the city to facilitating the relocation process for those requiring assistance upon moving to Georgia for work-related purposes.
What is the most challenging aspect of entrepreneurship?
To embark on a successful journey, I believe it’s crucial to build a strong connection with your audience every step of the way. I came to realize that a business must embody a distinct persona, complete with a voice, mood, personality, and energy that truly resonates with our audience. Maintaining consistency with this persona can be a daunting task, especially if it differs vastly from the owner’s personality, but it’s worth the effort. A brand persona must encapsulate the fears, pain points, and aspirations of an audience. Striking the right balance requires an adventurous spirit, a willingness to take risks, and plenty of research!
Was there ever a moment when you wanted to quit entrepreneurship?
I have always identified as an entrepreneur however, my childhood was filled with hurtful experiences as I was continuously moved from one foster family to the next. Unfortunately, I carried many of those experiences with me into adulthood. Despite knowing my capabilities, I often found myself hesitant to take risks in pursuit of my goals. To overcome these obstacles, I have undertaken significant work to re-educate myself, dismantle self-limiting beliefs, and cultivate self-confidence. Through this process, I have disengaged from negative thought patterns and have redirected my energy toward achieving the success I desire. Ultimately, I have learned to chart my own course and overcome adversity by focusing and setting sail to a more peaceful and ambitious future.
What does entrepreneurship mean to you?
The essence of entrepreneurship lies in our ability to create the changes we desire, both in our personal lives and in the wider world.
